Choose a website builder if you want to make the pages and keep them current yourself. Choose a managed service if you want someone else to handle the website work from your approved details and edit requests. Compare the work included, as well as the subscription price.
This guide is for mortgage brokers, loan officers and real estate agents. AgentReach provides a managed website service, so the comparison below names our responsibilities rather than assuming every provider works the same way.
Who does the work?
| Responsibility | A typical DIY builder plan | AgentReach managed website |
|---|---|---|
| Starting design | You choose and arrange the template | You choose a starting design and review the adaptation |
| Business content | You write it or arrange help | You supply the facts; we prepare the pages for your approval |
| Photos and branding | You supply and place them | You supply approved files; we apply them |
| Domain connection | You configure it or arrange help | We connect your domain with the appropriate access |
| Hosting | Often included; check the plan | Included |
| Copy and layout updates | You make them in the editor | You email the changes |
| Business accuracy and firm approval | Your responsibility | Your responsibility |
| Extra integrations | Check availability and cost | Confirm scope; portals and automated lead routing are not included in the individual plan |
Some builders offer additional design, writing or support services. Compare the actual package you are buying, not just the product name.
A paid builder plan can include hosting while the domain is a separate purchase. Wix, for example, explains the difference between buying a domain and a Premium plan, and requires a paid Premium plan for a custom domain.
When a builder is a good fit
A builder can suit you if you enjoy editing pages, want direct control over frequent changes, and can set aside time to maintain the site.
It can also work if an assistant already manages your content and knows the platform. Agree who checks the public details and what happens when that person is away.
Try a representative task before choosing: add your biography, a service description and your contact details, then check them on a phone. The experience will tell you more than browsing templates alone.
When managed work is a good fit
A managed service can suit you if you can provide the information but would rather send changes than learn an editor.
For example, an agent who changes their service area could send the approved wording and ask for the relevant pages to be updated. The agent still checks the facts; the provider applies the changes. This is an illustrative workflow, not a customer result.
AgentReach includes a branded website, hosting, domain connection, maintenance and copy or layout edits by email. Review the website prices, or use the first-year cost guide to compare a full budget. Newsletters are available separately or bundled.
Questions for either provider
Before choosing, ask:
- What work is included in setup and ongoing updates?
- Who controls the domain and keeps it renewed?
- What can be moved if you leave?
- Where will enquiries go, and who checks that they arrive?
- Can the website connect to any systems you require?
- How do edits and firm approvals work?
If you need property search, an application portal or automatic CRM routing, confirm it explicitly. Those requirements can change which service fits. For a shared team site or several websites, request a team demo to establish the scope.
Make the decision around your working week
Choose the option whose responsibilities you can realistically keep up with. A lower subscription is useful only if you can complete and maintain the site. A managed service is useful only if its included work matches what you need.
If your brokerage already provides a page, first check whether a separate website would help.
Then explore AgentReach’s three website demonstrations. They are fictional businesses showing working layouts. Use the planning checklist to gather your branding, services, domain arrangements and enquiry destination, then request your demo.
